Monday Melee

I enjoyed Groover's Lyrical version of Fracas Monday Melee so much last week that I couldn't resist having another pop at it.
So a brief break from my self-indulgent wallow in the past year's posts.

1: The Misanthropic.
(Name something - about humanity - you absolutely hate).

"Woman is the nigger of the world
Yes she is...think about it
Woman is the nigger of the world
Think about it...do something about it

We make her paint her face and dance
If she won't be a slave, we say that she don't love us
If she's real, we say she's trying to be a man
While putting her down we pretend that she is above us
Woman is the nigger of the world...yes she is
If you don't believe me take a look to the one you're with
Woman is the slave of the slaves
Ah yeah...better scream about it

We make her bear and raise our children
And then we leave her flat for being a fat old mother hen
We tell her home is the only place she should be
Then we complain that she's too unworldly to be our friend
Woman is the nigger of the world...yes she is
If you don't believe me take a look to the one you're with
Woman is the slave of the slaves Yeah (think about it)

We insult her everyday on TV
And wonder why she has no guts or confidence
When she's young we kill her will to be free
While telling her not to be so smart we put her down for being so dumb
Woman is the nigger of the world...yes she is
If you don't believe me take a look to the one you're with
Woman is the slave of the slaves
Yes she is...if you believe me, you better scream about it."

John Lennon: "Woman Is The Nigger Of The World"

2: The Meretricious:
(Expose someone or something that's phony, fraudulent or bogus).

"Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?'"

Ry Cooder: "Don't Call Me Red."

Yep. I'm happy and proud to be a Marxist. Fuck Mc.Carthy and all who sailed in him.

3: The Malcontent:
(Name something you're unhappy with).

"I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink
I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink
I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink
No, no, no.

I'm so tired I don't know what to do
I'm so tired my mind is set on you
I wonder should I call you but I know what you would do"

The Beatles: "I'm So Tired"

or perhaps:

"My ass is as big as Omaha"

The Handsome Family: "Giant Ant"

4: The Meritorious.
(Give someone credit for something and name it if you can).

"And when I go away
I know my heart can stay
With my love
It's understood
It's in the hands of my love
And my love does it good

And when the cupboard's bare
I'll still find something there
With my love
It's understood
It's everywhere with my love
And my love does it good

I love
My love
Only my love holds the other key to me
My love
My love
Only my love does it good to me

Don't ever ask me why
I never say goodbye to my love
It's understood
It's everywhere with my love
And my love does it good"

Wings: "My Love"

For my girl …
And also for the late and rather splendid Henry Mc.Culloch for playing the lovely guitar solo in that song; one of my all time favourites.

5: The Mirror.
(See something good about yourself and name it).

"I'm five. I'm five. I'm a big girl now; I'm five"

Barbra Streisand (Yikes!): "I'm Five"

… er … Hang on; that's not right.

um … How about:

"I don't pretend to know what you want
But I offer love"

Crowded House: "Distant Sun"

6: The Make-Believe:
(Name something you wish for).

"You come awake
In a horny morning mood
And have a proper wriggle
In the naughty, naked nude
Roll against my body
Get me where you want me
What happens next is private
It's also very rude"

Ian Dury And The Blockheads: "Wake Up And Make Love With Me"

Happy Monday, folks.

Dive, I was so tempted to do it again this week too. All I could think of this morning were good lyrics to use. Dammit.

Vic. It is so much fun I may well revisit again.

Mme, B: Where's the fun in being careful what you wish for?

Hi, Kate: I'm not sure I'm talking to you at the moment as I just spent most of the morning in a meeting with "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens" stuck in my head.

Thanks for that!
Hee hee

Better that than a cranky rendition of "I don't like mondays", save that for the train ride.

Your girl is a lucky woman, Dive.

Why have I never heard #1 before? Now I have to go hunt for it and download it. Great lyrics all around.

Kate" I'm still reeling with shock that I knew the line you wanted. Eek!

Robyn: It's me who's the lucky guy (ick).

Number 1 is on "Some Time In New York City"; not the most commercial of albums unless - as I do - you like the sound of Yoko shrieking.

Oh my, Dive. Do I detect a hint of sap in your voice? You really are happy. I never thought YOU of all people could spew sap.

Good for you.

Yikes, Robyn!
Yes. I admit it.
I am happy and sappy. Pass round the sickbags.
I think it's time I got sweary and cynical again before I start sounding like Rich!

Thank you for mentioning love-goo at lunchtime, Prudence. Hee hee.

And sorry for the sappiness, Maria. There's lots of rantiness and cynicism in the next post.

And actually, my ass is cute (ha!); I just love that line in the song.
