Well, spring is here, and with it come the fucking tourists, so Piccadilly Circus is now a no-go area and I take my sushi down the road to Green Park.
Last week I popped back to the British Museum to check out the revamped Japan section, which was closed when Ame and Bear were there.
I couldn't open the cabinet and nick this lot, which is a shame as it would be perfect for wearing on the tube.Looking closely at these 刀 (Katana) it is easy to see the difference between them and the crappy pressed steel replicas that you can buy these days.
These are fucking scary!
Arse-tighteningly so.
Click on 'em and marvel at the craftsmanship.
I love that scene in Kill Bill above Sonny Chiba's sushi bar, where he unveils the sword he has made for Uma Thurman. These are like that only better.
Check this out:This is the oldest still usable sword in the Museum's collection. It was made by Sueyuki in the 1100s and is a 太刀(Tachi), or the longer of the two swords carried by Samurai.
It is still in perfect condition and looks so sharp I had to hide my fingers behind my back when I stared at the blade.
Yikes!

yep--very scary! The sushi looks harmless and yummy, though.
It most certainly was.
Mmmmmmmmmmm … Yummy!
I personally think the raw fish would be more scary and life threatening than the swords. But find a way to open that display case and i'll go you halves in the cab fare to nick the stuff.
Hey, Kate. Junya will be back from Tokyo in a week or so with some tins of whalemeat.
There. That ought to get you nice and ranty.
Lmao. I don't swallow anything RAW or SALTY so you can keep the whalemeat.
And actually I think i'm all ranted out for a while. Whilst not totally subscribing to the yellow virus yet I may belt out a few verses of "I feel pretty" on my way into work in the morning. That should scare the motorists!
And I can't be ranty right now, I'm watching that Gorodn Ramsey the nasty british chef, you just can't beat him for ranty.
But whalemeat - i know theres a rant coming soon. :)
Pretty and witty AND gay, Kate?
That should please the Groover.
You ARE looking good just lately, and your pink hair is great. Bollocks to your boss.
Pretty and witty and bi Dive.
The pink hair will be resurected tomorrow afternoon, yay, i've felt naked without my trademark hair.
Yummy! The sushi of course, you can keep the swords. Yikes! (she quoted Dive)
No pink hair Kate?? What's that all about then, noooooo.
Lynn - the lack of pink is explained in todays episode of kate isis. Its been missing for a while and its about time I had it back.
I guess i'm going to have to bend to popular opinion and at least try this sushi before i spit it out.
perfect killing machines...impressive.
(thanks for mentioning sushi..had no idea where to go for supper tonight!)
Kate and Lynn may be impressive, Savannah, but perfect killing machines?
Hmmm …
Okay. I can see that.
LOL Kate & Lynn; the mean killing machines. ...?... nah....
I'll be over there Kate just as soon as i can.
Be afraid, guys … be very afraid.
Hey Dive, you should see my surprise from M et Mme Benaut at their blog a couple of days ago now... ! Very neat work i'm sure you'll agree.
If you mean "LYNNWOOD AVE." I had a chuckle at that earlier. Hee hee.
I've got such a crap connection in the village at the moment that I can only look at the photoblogs when I'm in London, which is a real shame as I tend to miss several days at a time.
Hey ho.
I had a friend who was into swords. He freaked me out.
You know my weakness, Dive. I think 'that' scene in KB1 is so beautiful too. Ever since the house two doors down from me was burgled, I've slept with one of those replicas beside me. It may be cheap but I love it! It's fantastic to see the real thing, though - thanks for that. xxx
I have always wanted to swing a sword. Must be a past life or some sort of latent problem from my troubled youth.
And sushi...ah...very very good on a night when you are feeling like you want to use a pair of chopsticks. Liv and I always insist on chopsticks. Bing is a wussy pants and eats with a fork.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! SUSHI IN GREEN PARK? I'll TAKE it! ;)
And WOW DB! Bummed I missed that part of the museum...but you did a great job capturing it withOUT me!
Bet it wasn't as entertaining tho' was it?
HUGS!!!!
ME
=)))))
xo
Hey Ame! There were baps and peepees! Some pillow book illustrations were on display (round the back of a cabinet and high up out of kids' way). It would have been SOOO much more fun with you there.
As for the rest of you … girls with swords? You could set up your own very successful perv website. I'm with Sassy; they scare the crap out of me. And I'll remember to knock really loud next time I pop round, Pea; I don't want to be skewered!
Probably best to announce your presence, but believe me, I don't want to stick it in anyone, or cut off anything (that they'd miss or otherwise). I'm banking on the fact that waggling it assertively (if that's possible under those conditions) will have them scarpering.
C'mon; I've got to see some cool Sonny Chiba moves … though don't go all Crazy 88 with it!
Sigh... Sonny Chiba.
He's still cool.
