I have no idea why the gorillas, Petrea. A few years back it was elephants and then penguins. Now, it's gorillas. Apparently there are over fifty of them and they're somehow raising money for charity; as for the "why": it's a mystery to me.

It IS rather starling to see a gorilla in these classic shopfront windows.
Several years ago, there were "cow parades" in several cities across the US. Same concept as the gorillas, where teams painted/decorated them and they were auctioned off for certain charities. http://www.cowparade.com/
