Oh, in today's "politically correct" world, we're not supposed to notice when anyone is "different." So when a lifetime supply of calemari is sitting on the Guildhall balcony people won't even be concerned that there isn't enough ice to keep it from going bad.

Only after I pointed it out. Phil and Dawn walked straight past it without noticing. People are weird.

I don't know, Dive. I think they're all looking away intentionally. They wanted a giant bunny instead and this calamari just pisses them off.
Yes, they seem to be actively avoiding making eye contact.
Perhaps, as Petrea says, they wanted a giant Energizer Bunny, or one of Jeff Koons's dogs?
