500 Words XLIII - This Week's Sentence

Get your Empire-line frocks on, and watch out for rakes in too-tight regency trousers, for this week's sentence is taken from Emily Brontë's 'Wuthering Heights' (I defy you not to start singing the Kate Bush version).

The sentence is:
'The minute after, she had sidled to him, and was sticking primroses in his plate of porridge.'

You know the rules. Go get Gothic with it.

Primroses and porridge... I dunno.

Bronte? Good.

Gothic? Better.

Kate Bush? Never heard of her.

Really. I've got awful taste in music.

Vanda: It's a tough sentence but I could hardly pass up the most incongruously trippy sentence in the whole book, could I?

Lulu: I think that song came out around 1976 so it's no surprise you don't know it. I only remember it because she was a pretty girl in a flimsy dress and I was 17.
Hey ho.

I'm rather sick of the Kate Bush thing to be honest. Overplayed, overrated. Hi Dive!! I adore Wuthering Heights though, one of my all time favourites and could re-read again and again - and often do!
Hope you and yours are all well :D I've redecorated over at mine, hope to see you there and that I become more regular again. Um. ;)

Ah, the prodigal returns from the land of Facebook. Hi, Lynn! As you're a co-founder of 500 Words, maybe I can cajole you into writing another piece for us. You must admit, Wuthering Heights is a tempting subject.

I'm afraid I'll have to give this on a pass, but I wrote something else.

It was a decidedly tricky sentence this week, Vanda, but the sheer weirdness of it made it an irresistible choice.

Your story, however, completely blew me away! Wonderful!
