Yay!
It's time for the Norwich Festival of Cultures, 2009.
Last year's was terrific and this year's even better. It's held in the grounds of Norwich Mind's headquarters and organised brilliantly by our very own Joy.
Just a quick overview this year as I'm stinkingly busy.
The food was wonderful! Lots of nationalities all cooking up a storm. I ate myself silly as usual, determinedly trying only things I'd never eaten before and lots of things that I never knew existed.
Particular hoorahs to the Polish and Mexican cooks!
The flamenco guitar players were brilliant and the dancers stunning.
Such beautiful costumes and astonishing dance steps. Woah!

Talking of looks, there were lots of beautiful weemen (as usual) and some amazing dresses.
All sorts of free events were there for our enjoyment, from various massages (Egyptian, Indian head massage, shiatsu, foot massage, et al) to … er … belly dancing workshops.
The sun came out and the crowd had a great time.
Huge thanks once again to Joy for all the work (and stress) she put into the event, and to Thom for being her rock.

What a great event this looks! Well done Joy and I love your dress. Poor Lady Mayoress suffers under your comment Dive, but I bet she had a busy week... sometimes it's hard to look glam aswell.

Looks like a wonderful event. Congrats to the glamorous Joy. The mayor looks somewhat like my late mother-in-law--more interested in the inside than the outside.
Lupine Lady: it was indeed a wonderful event.
I think you're right about the Mayor, or at least about her "inside"; like me, she was more interested in all the yummy food than in her appearance.
I was glad you actually made it! By 11am I was starting to wonder if you would show up :-)

In fact, why doesn't everyone come? You are all invited! Bring your hips, too. We'll make sure Dive does the bachata workshop next year.
Believe it or not, my first meal that day was at 7pm - after arriving home.

What a shame you missed out on all the deilicious food, Joy. I can vouch for its excellence.
I suppose that's the price you pay for running such an event. I am in awe of you for holding it all together without exploding.
What a wonderful event for a city to have! Joy must be an amazingly organized and creative person to pull together such an amazing event. WOW!

Is it that time of year already? What a great event-Joy's done it again eh? Awesome!
The food spread looks very interesting. For some reason that chili looking stuff at the front of that top photo(I think it was)in the orange pot, looks delish!
And Joy looks smashing as usual. :) But, why aren't you in any of the piccy's this year?
Fun that KT will be there next time if all goes to plan.
Lynn: You have to bring typically English food. I'm thinking cake! Woohoo!
Katherine: It is all Joy's work. She has built this thing up over years of hard work. She should get some kind of award for services to integration and racial harmony.
Shan: it is always that time of year.
I'm not in the piccies because I was holding the camera. Thom and I were too busy eating or applauding the acts to swap cameras this time.
I always miss all the fun....
What fun and what a lovely festival. Kudos to Joy. BTW she looks amazing. I would love to see something like that around my town. Katie will have a blast!
Festival of Cultures has such a nice sound to it. Kudos to Joy for her hard work and putting this together.
Looks like Joy pulled off another amazing festival! Great work Joy! If I'm able to make it there next year I'll do my best to make a yummy American dish to share. (I see that the USA was represented this year with the bottle of Sprite. I can surely do better than that!) Of course the only way I'll attend is if Dive and Thom agree to take belly dancing lessons. My favorite photo (after the food of course) is the swirly skirts.
