Yesterday I spent my third blog birthday with those old reprobates the Four Heads.
Well three of them anyway, as John's on holiday Down Under.
So it was Old Dive standing in for him at Tia and Andy's wedding reception.
The weather was perfect (actually it was about three hundred degrees hotter than Hell and as humid as a sauna, but the sun shone all day) and the whole day was completely wonderful.
Except of course the band. Hee hee.
You've seen us rehearsing this one, now witness the fact that rehearsing songs makes no difference whatsoever to these guys.

Don't give up your day job!
In all honesty, tho, you'all sound pretty good and I'm sure everyone had a blast. Let's hear it for music! Although, Walking by Myself is an odd piece to play at a wedding reception, don't you think?
Hee hee hee!
I certainly won't give up my day job, Cynthia!
As for the choice of songs, the bride chose the whole set (an hour and a half of utter trash) and I just played along.
We did have a splendid time.
Thanks really enjoyed all of them...
Ahhhh how fun. I always love it when people have dances at their weddings. I'm sure the crowd went wild for the music.
Mum: you're only supposed to comment on this one; I'll post the others later. Hee hee.
Shan: It was a wonderful wedding. Everything went perfectly (and having the father of the bride leading the band meant nobody dared complain about the cacophonous racket we made … yay).
So...where's the rest of the set?
I love these little Dive plays the guitar and shakes his groove thang videos.
When you come to the States next year, I think that Katie should arrange for you to play with a local band one night. All of your American blog friends will come, drink a few too many, and prove that bloggers shouldn't dance in public. I'll take the day off work and pick up Maria on my way.
Terroni's words to God's ear...
And I do so love watching you weave and bob, dear Dive.
T: The rest of the set will probably get posted when I've got nothing else to post.
Actually, there are only five numbers as my camera only has a teeny-weeny little memory card.
If my plane gets diverted to Baltimore I'll see if I can find a band to play in as long as you come up and sing.
Maria: I'm waiting patiently for some Bing-video action (musically, I mean … ahem).
BALTIMORE?? I'm 20 minutes from the airport. I'll definately make the show.
Yay! We can have a live haiku jam!
I know I'm late, but Happy Blogiversary! Checking your blog is always one of the high points of my day.
You are too kind, Lulu. Thank you.
But boy howdy, you have SERIOUSLY got to find something better to do with your days if this is a high point! Hee hee.
You rock Dive! You make it look so easy. My brother will hook up with his Cali buddies and play with you out there. If you get diverted to Baltimore, I will meet you with Terroni and Lulubelle. I was there today. It is one hour from me.
You know how to partay! Ohhh, a gig in CA? Where, when? If Katie brings champagne, I'll bring cake!
Not that I didn't like the other video with those great views of your cute butt, but I do like actually getting to see you play guitar in this video! Sounds like a fun time was had by all at Tia and Andy's wedding (even if it was really hot). More videos please!
Terroni I'll see what I can arrange some sort of musical event for Dive when he's here. Everyone would be invited! Maybe he can jam with my mom's recorder group.
Great again Dive!
Just had to come and tell you, I'm joining Flickr, ok all well and good, going through the process, there's a bit where they say they're working hard to show us the awesome content on Flickr. Yep ok all fair enough. BUT... then they say 'we like to call it Interestingness.' Aaarrrrrgggghhhh. Very nearly made me change my mind about joining - but I need it. LOL.
Neetzy: It IS easy!
Anyone can play guitar; heck it's so simple even I can do it!
Baltimore sounds more and more attractive every day.
Cali: In fifty years I have never once partayed. But champers and cake sound like good incentives to learn.
Katie: jamming with your mom's recorder group would be awesomely surreal. Hee hee.
I must confess it is weird watching myself play guitar.
As I kind of switch off my brain when I play solos I really have no idea what I'm playing.
There was a little run somewhere in there that made me go "Oooh!" but I have no idea how I played it so I've been staring at my fingers on the video but I still can't make it out.
Hey ho.
"We like to call it Interestingness"?
Yikes, Lynn. That was so dumb it actually caused a sharp pain in my head.
A pox on Flickr.
Wow, if you jam with Cynthia's recorder group, I, for one, will make every effort to be there! Wouldn't want to miss THAT.
Fun to see! You "old guys" are great!
I think when you come to the U.S., someone should make a film of it, what with jam sessions, side trips, and all the other events and activities. It could be titled "When Dive Arrives."
It is a long flight from London to San Francisco (at least 12 hours). I would think you have to stop on the East Coast (halfway) Stop at Baltimore and we will treat you to hot crabs and beer!
Lupine Lady: That really is a surreal, yet intriguing combination.
Ms.M: thankfully I was only standing in with Tony's band for the one gig, though I must confess they made me feel very young, which is a nice change.
A film of "Dive Arrives" will merely show a dazed and jetlagged middle aged man stumbling through the arrivals lounge so I think we'll give that one a miss.
Neetzy: Unfortunately the flight (ten hours direct) doesn't go anywhere near Baltimore (it skirts Greenland, then heads off across Canada and down the Rockies), but I do intend to get there one day.
Whoop de doo! I really enjoyed hearing and watching you play Dive. What a talent! Schedule me in for the Baltimore get together. Let's see - Adelaide-Sydney-LA-NY-Baltimore - shouldn't take more than a couple of days to get there :))
Mme: I think it's quicker by canoe.
