A friend of mine runs a chelonia sanctuary, looking after unwanted, illegally smuggled or simply vacationing tortoises. Sitting on her back porch chatting over a cuppa is quite an experience, gazing out over an acre of tortoise pens and listening to the gentle but persistent clonking of shells. Those guys never stop! Sheesh!
It's so fun to have an outlet for my weird photos (at least when Dive doesn't know what to post on a Monday). I took this photo last month at Six Flags, and the juxtaposition with the carnal trucks, although delightful, was sheer coincidence. Small children couldn't see over the fence, so it was mostly adults laughing like teenagers and taking photos of this scene. I actually did say to my friend (who is a mom, and I'm not) "Mommy what are they doing?" She said "Turtle Leapfrog."
Petrea I'm shocked, SHOCKED that you would suggest that, um, hey did you hear that Julia Child's “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” is selling briskly now? I have the 1966 6th printing of it, not to brag.
Petrea as Jon Stewart said recently on The Daily Show in his "Master Rebators" segment, I do believe these fat-ended trucks would fall under the "Cash for Badonkadonkers" category.

Suddenly I'm singing: "Birds do it, bees do it...even educated fleas do it..."
"let's do it . . . let's push button for love." ;-)
Heehee. I bet he can go a long while! Slow and steady wins the race!
Woo-Hoo!! Turtle Style!
Was this photo taken on a Monday?;)
Ms M knows how to start the week! :D
What's up with the trucks? Why don't we do it in the road, indeed!
James Joyce is done and posted and am about to tackle Mary Shelley. My God I'm enjoying this, thanks Dive :)
Turtles screw faster than tireless trucks move.
"Making whoopee" the slow style.
Oooh goodness, get a room.
LMAO! I love it!
I have a pic just like this, Dive...albeit, my horny buggers were not quite such exhibitionists.
If you ever want a pic of a snake eating a rat, I'm your woman. The pic was taken at the same time the tortoises were humping.
BTW, did you know tortoises grunt while they do it?
Mommy, what are they doing?
You can thank Katie for this photo.

This is an instant laugh. The trucks and the locale give it the perfect quirkiness. Suddenly it's awkward for us all!
Mmmm, I think WTF is a really appropriate title for this one.
Dive, I officially love you now. And Neetzy.

Katie, you said "carnal trucks." Made me look again. But now I'm thinking Katie's got one thing on her mind.

Say, are carnal trucks part of the "cash for clunkers" program?

Wow. Just looked for that on youtube but it's not there. Bummer. But I take your word for it.
Petrea try this link:
Daily Show Aug 3
Shan: Not as awkward for us as it appears to be for those tortoises.
Lupine Lady: It truly is. Katie seems to have the knack for taking … er … memorable photos.
Petrea and Katie: Oh, my. You two are incorrigible. Hee hee.
"Turtle Leapfrog" hee, hee Katie - you are a trick! Very generous of you Dive to let us start our week with this!
Ew Katherine! TMI...
Mme: It's Katie who deserves the thanks. She does take the oddest photos!
Lynn: Ditto. Hee hee.
