Shopping With Tom

It's Saturday.
I'm going shopping.
Much as I love boobies and kissing girls, there's a side of me that fills the house with Tiffany lamps and paintings and that loves to shop.
Go figure …

In the meantime, here is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, Tom Waits' classic and übercool weepie, Burma Shave.
Enjoy.

Shopping was great! But now it's housework.

I'm glad you agree, T.

Wow, you've already been out shopping all day, and I just got up! Whadya get? Do we get a fashion show on any new clothes you bought? Thanks for the Tom Waits - he was a perfect accompaniment to my pre-coffee few minutes on the computer. I actually think I saw Tom Waits last year when I was north of SF with my college friend from Paris (see my very first blog entry). We were near a farmers' market in a hip little town and this guy walked by and my friend and I both said, hey I think that was Tom Waits! He kinda has a distinct look. I loved him in "Down by Law". I should rent that movie again.

What a great number for a leisurely Saturday morning. Thank you, Dive.

Books, Katie. Coffee, breakfast, a shirt and books. I did look at a shoe shop but I'll save that for another day.
Sigh … Not only do you live in one of the coolest places on earth, but yes, you also live near Tom and Kathleen so I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was him.

Robyn: Glad you liked it. It's one of my all time favourites.

Yeaaaahhh. Perfect for winding down. Cheers, Dive [clink of glasses]. I just lurve that trumpet at the end. Like a line on a drawing or a phrase in a poem, some things are just perfect and can't be improved.

The lovely trumpet line at the end of this and the trumpet on his version of "Somewhere" always remind me of a certain sister of Helen's.
Cheers, Pea! I raise a glass of Gewurztraminer in the general direction of A de la Z.

I came this morning and listened and then found that Blogger would not let me comment. How frustrating! To hear such great music and then be shut out!

Anyway...great choice, Dive. And we used to have a Tiffany lamp hanging over our kitchen table but I let Bing talk me into some high tech thing that I just detest now....

I tend to avoid shopping, as much as I enjoy it, because I end up spending far more than I ever intend to. Fun, it is, though. When I don't think about the bills.

Not keen on Tiffany, but i'd go with the books, coffee and shirts idea! Glad you had a good time browsing.

M et Mme are on their way to London today Dive, hot from me to you. They are wonderful. Brace yourself - you'll have a great time! Can't wait to see your pics.

So sorry to hear Blogger was buggering things up again, Maria. But at least you could sit and listen to Tom.

Pilgrim: shopping is all about spending way too much money and then regretting it when you check your bank balance. Do we ever learn? Not a chance.
Happy shopping!

Lynn: Well done for looking after Mme and MB. I can't wait for tomorrow when we "do London" together. I've charged up my camera batteries.
Fun. fun, fun!

You gotta show us where you hung the photo you got from the Festival! That's still considered shopping, right? :D

At the moment it is propped up over the mixing desk in the studio, Joy; the frame I thought would fit it was too small, so I'll take it to Max (the framer) next time I make a trip out his way.
