Monday Melee

Something of a predictable Fracas Monday Melee this week after Robyn's visit.
I miss her and I'm glum.
However, don't miss next week's glistening and throbbing episode where Groover has challenged us to "Say It With Lyrics"!

1: The Misanthropic.
(Name something - about humanity - you absolutely hate).
This week I have been mostly hating humanity's inability to arrange it so that blogpals live in Blogville, where we can simply pop round for a cuppa and not have to save up for bloody plane tickets.

2: The Meretricious:
(Expose someone or something that's phony, fraudulent or bogus).
The pain in the arse of getting a new, crappy "biometric" passport (I think it means it's made out of live yoghurt), booking plane tickets online when your connection cuts out every minute, then standing in an airport for four days.
That's why I wait for my blogpals to visit London.
I'm a lazy cheapskate.

3: The Malcontent:
(Name something you're unhappy with).
Robyn's in Ohio.
And Ame's in California.
In fact all of you are out of reach.
Except wonderful Peahen who is only three and a half hours away.

4: The Meritorious.
(Give someone credit for something and name it if you can).
Robyn, for a splendid day out last week.
And for being Robyn.

5: The Mirror.
(See something good about yourself and name it).
My shoes are nice.

6: The Make-Believe:
(Name something you wish for).
Room 56.
And no, that's not a hotel room; it's a disconnected piece of trivia. I'll give 100 trivia points if anyone gets it, but I somehow doubt you will. Hee hee.

Well, aren't you just the nicest man! Build Blogville, why don't you, and we can all move in.

Show us your shoes, Dive.

Well now that you mention it, I believe I am (hee hee).
I'm so glad you're home safe, Robyn.
Now get back on that plane and let's do it all again.
Only more so.

Dive, I'm looking forward to lyrics melee too.

Blogville... I'm there.

You say the nicest things, Dive, more than I deserve.

I'm still waiting for the post on your site, Robyn, so I'll say it here - It's great to see that you guys had a good time. Welcome to the elite group of people who know first hand what a gent and good company Dive is (and his Mum of course) and how vast is the encyclopaedia inside his head. There can be no-one better to show you around our capital (and I'm glad you spotted a french horn!!)

Yikes!
Pea, you should never comment drunk (hee hee).
Thanks for being so sweet.
And yes, Handel has a VERY obvious horn on his lap!

Groover: the lyrics melee has been driving me mad. So far, I've edited mine down to about 500 pages.

I wish I'd been there; but only one year to go.

Now, seriously; 56 is one less than 57 varieties. Sounds like you've got one more to go. Howzat?

Hee hee, MB. Surreal answers are often better than correct ones.

It's not the number of "The Bed Sitting Room" is it?

Is this something i've forgotten from 1984? Certainly sounds like it.

dive said...

Way wide of the mark, both of you, although the Bed Sitting Room is an inspired guess, Pea.

Count me in on Blogville! So where are you headed that you would be trying to book a flight?

Maria said...

Hmm...Rafe Esquith's Teach Like Your Hair's On fire? I believe his classroom was room 56...

And, hey...I wouldn't mind a trip to Blogville. We could all sit around and be charmed by each other....Well, I would be anyway. I'd be the shy one sitting alone pretending to be very interested in the ice in my drink.

Or else I'd peruse the library. I think that a person's books says a lot about them...

I've not booked a flight in a dozen years, Prudence. That's why my passport has expired.
It's just too much of a pain in the arse.
I've found that if I hang around here, the world eventually comes to visit.

Maria: No joy on Room 56.
And don't get me started on libraries. I'm now having to extend my house to build a proper library. I have more books than the public library in the village! Yikes.
