Savannah: Where's the fun in a sober prawn? xoxoxox
Cali: Something delicious.
Mark: Hell, yes!
Vanda: ? (I'm useless at acronyms).
Petrea: Awwww, c'mon.
Neetzy: See below.
Ms.M: A community winkle would be a scary thing indeed!
Vanda: Spot on! Winkles are cute (the molluscs, not the male genitalia). They're about the size of your fingernail and you eat them using a pin, with which you 'winkle' them out of their shells (yes, it's a verb, too). Delicious with a twist of lemon and some crunchy raw samphire (again, the mollusc rather than the male genitalia).
We English folk love what we call 'music hall' humour, gently smutty wordplay deisgned to shock and delight people 150 years ago. Yay for winkles (both sorts)!
As a young child, I also enjoyed many a winkle gathered by my sibling and myself. After which they were boiled in a good stout and after which the draping would be cast off the balcony of my Noni's flat and into the street below where they, on occasion would "ping" off the passing cars.
Prudence: Hee hee. There's nothing to compare with enjoying a good winkle. I've not yet tried boiling them in stout but as soon as I can get back to the fishmongers I'll try it.

someone had a bit too much beer with lunch, eh? xoxoxox
(tugging on your shirt sleeve) what's a winkle? :D
I could go for a kilo of those mussels. Plenty of liquor too please. Dont spare the garlic or the cream. Would a nice chardonnay go good with mussels?
TMI
I thought of a question about what chardonnay goes with but I don't think I'll ask it.
Please translate. What's a "winkle".
so they have a community winkle?? [Crab-free, of course?]
LOL Petrea, I thought of a similar question about what kind of wine would they suggest...
winkle
noun
a small herbivorous shore-dwelling mollusk with a spiral shell. Also called periwinkle
winkle
An alternative word for penis mainly used by parents when talking to their children.
I guess that sign is sort of witty.

Oh gosh how off putting can an advert get?! Marketing! Where's PR?
Off-putting, Lynn? Surely you are not immune to the joys of popping a winkle in your mouth?
Hee hee.

TMI = too much information
Yay, for archaic smutty humor.

Guffaw, Dive. It's a long time since I savoured a winkle with any relish...;)
