Mme: This is the back of a curry house in the "drunken hen party" section of the city, so Cinderella must really be slumming it these days. Hee hee.
Mum: I know. It's criminal. I'm a great believer in giving the town planning authorities the power of summary arrest, torture and execution for the replacement window brigade.
The lone shoe. I have always been intrigued by this. I have seen them on the side of the road, in gutters, over telephone wires, but rarely on top of a building. I have told my children that I would make that a creative writing project if I ever taught creative writing. Lupine Lady and Petrea have something good going on here!
Years ago at the Del Mar fair in California (where else?), in the "strange collections" collections category, an exhibitor had his collection of the odd shoes displayed. Each shoe had a tag showing where it was found and when--date, time, etc. Freeways, roof tops, telephone wires (gang territorial claim, I'm told), you name it. This would have been his piece de resistance.
We thought of entering our collection of cat whiskers, but Kim was worried that people would think we'd plucked them rather than having just found them around the house. It is now an international collection, with a couple of documented French cat whiskers. The collection fits into a little watercolor paint box.
Lupine Lady, a collection of cat whiskers, if you don't mind my saying, is about as esoteric as it gets. I love it. There ought to be a place where such things could be exhibited.
Here's a good link called "Stuff I've Held." (Not me.) http://www.pbase.com/csw62/holding
We collect stuff we find in our back yard (the house is only 85 years old).
I think WTF Monday is the proper place to discuss this.

Oh, that must be Cinderella's missing shoe! Very pretty and the right colour.
Yuk windows.... they have done our old Denmark Road house with those blank ones, such a shame.....
Hope you are feeling better .....
You should see the other shoe!

Katie: See it? I was wearing it!
Hee hee.
Quite a party!
What a find! Who snapped that one? I love it. :D
More fashion for the ladies! If only this shoe could talk.
Lying in the ambulance, Nigel reflected that perhaps a Cross-Dressing Chimney Sweep was not the best idea for Halloween.
First, what an odd place for a shoe. Second, what an odd shoe.
Lupine Lady: Indeedy! At least somebody appears to have gotten high.
Shan: I found that on Saturday after breakfast, alking back to my car. No sign of the other shoe.
Cali: It would probably talk in a broad Norwich accent and drone on and on about boys before drinking itself into a stupor.
Petrea: Hee hee! That cracked me up. Thank you for cheering my "stuck in England with Katie only just across the Channel" Monday.
Robyn: No, the other shoe was the odd one; this was the even.
Can't take all the credit. It was co-written with J., my better half.
Yay, J!
This shoe might have belonged to a person with one leg. Where is Sherlock Holmes?
I think you should use Petrea's comment as the seed sentence for your next 500 word story.
lol how very odd. You and I have both photographed footwear today.
Sorry I've not been around much, busy, busy, hectic hype going on and not always good. lol. Must catch up...
I like Lupine Lady's idea. Honestly, though, the story that comes up in my mind is -- well, it's WTF.
Mark: I believe he's rotting at the foot of the Reichenbach Falls.
Lupine Lady: Hee hee! That is too funny!
Lynn: I'm having a hectic one, too, so I'll probably not post anything before Thursday; I'll be in London the rest of the week. Hey ho.
Petrea: You are incorrigible!

"Oh my god! He's home early! Quick! Out the window! Now!"
"But-but I'm afraid of heights..."
Good one, Ms. M!
