What a splendid crop of stories we have for your coffee time edification this week.
This week’s sentence was of course taken from Edith Wharton’s ‘The Age of Innocence’.
It was:
‘“Tell me what you do all day,” he said, crossing his arms under his tilted-back head, and pushing his hat forward to screen the sun-dazzle.’
Without further ado, let's launch into the stories:
Vanda's 'Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien'
Yay for racy, pacy romance and more in Paris! A fabulously frisky tale from Vanda this week.
Of course the fact that I'll soon be packing my suitcase to meet Katie in Paris for a romantic autumn break has no connection whatever with why I like this story so much.
Oh, no.
Not at all.
Er …
Katherine's 'Randomly Speaking'
Two - count 'em - TWO 500 Words sentences in one story this week from Katherine as she plays catch-up in spectacular fashion.
Brilliant, beautifully written and laugh-out-loud funny.
Yay!
Todd's 'Sterling'
Boy howdy, I wish I had Todd's imagination. I get totally lost in his stories and this is a pure delight.
I want so much to go sailing with Captain Sterling and to explore his weird world. I do hope he makes a comeback appearance in future stories.
Awesome!
Dive's 'Lunch'
Not content with last week's bromance, this week finds Dive at a gay pick-up in Central park.
Sheesh!
Let's hope he gets back to shooting people next week. This is worrying.
Any other stories will get added as they come in.
Next week's sentence tomorrow (as soon as I've figured out what it will be).

Another good read!
Romance in Paris! I should be so lucky . . . :P
Cali: Please stop singing Kylie songs!
Sheesh! That reminds me: I was in an Indian restaurant a while back and this sitar music was nagging at me like I should have recognised it.
Lo and behold it was Kylie's Greatest Hits played on sitar and tabla. Yikes!
Actually it was pretty good.
I had no idea I was singing Kylie songs. I don't really know her music, BUT I might enjoy hearing Kylie's Greatest Hits played on sitar and tabla. Hee hee!!!
Believe me, Cali, you're not missing anything of earth-shattering cultural merit.
Talking of inappropriate covers, did you hear the wonderful Paul Anka covers album "Rock Swings"? His version of Smells Like Teen Spirit is AWESOME! Hee hee.
I also have a CD of Black Sabbath hits sung as plainsong (like Gregorian Chant) in Estonian by a group called Rondellus. I can play it at dinner parties and people go "Oooh, that's pretty", not realising it's a cover of War Pigs.
Hey ho.
I have heard that Paul Anka cover. Pretty scary! I probably wouldn't recognize the Black Sabbath cover either. I have heard of them, but couldn't name one of their hits.
Talking of really inappropriate covers, there is a Hungarian version of Rolling Stones' Honky Tonk Woman. It's wrong on so many levels, it'll make your head assplode. The lyrics themselves far raunchier than the original too. You have to take my word for it. Here it is.
I'll try to get to all these stories before I take off on my trip tomorrow. Ok, so I had to go read Vanda's story since it was set in Paris. Oh la la!!! And you are obviously such a Mad Men addict now. I knew you'd like that show!
Cali: Ah, I keep forgetting your youth! Kids … huh! Hee hee hee.
Vanda: That is so totally awesome! When it first started I was in fits of giggles at the sheer 1980s-ness of it all but then the girls came on for the chorus and I laughed so hard my breakfast came out my nose.
Thank you so much for that!
Katie: This time tomorrow you'll be landing in Paris. Yay! I can't wait!
