Chihuly! … Gesundheit

Hokay, while I'm at the office today I've got a job for you to do.
Carefully (I cannot stress that word enough) dismantle this and clean it for me, please.
When you've done, be a dear and reassemble it and hang it back up. There's a nice shiny nickel in it for you when I get home. And maybe ice cream.

A Change of Scenery

I took a mosey along the Wensum to Bishop Bridge last Friday morning.
Back in the year eleven-hundred-and-blah, this used to have a castellated gatehouse sitting on top of it to guard the Bishopsgate entrance to the city from wandering minstrels and dragons, but it gradually collapsed over the centuries leaving this picturesque little bridge behind.
Sweet, huh?

Here's the view from further along Riverside Walk. If you swing ninety degrees to your left (and manage not to fall in the river) you'll have a fine view of the Cathedral just across the water.

I'll be crossing this bridge and meandering through Cathedral Close into the city centre quite a lot from now on, as today I start a new job.
I'm back in Norwich, working at a large architectural practice based right by the riverside (about twenty paces from where I took the middle photo).
For those who need to catch up (which will be most of you, as I've been posting photos rather than writing just lately), my job in Smallville fell through at the end of last year, thanks to the fucked up construction industry, and I've been faffing around ever since.
Some of my time has been invested in useful projects such as watching (yet again) all seven series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (yay) and some has been slightly more profitably spent designing schools for my old employer in Westminster on a consultancy basis to make ends meet while I looked for a full time position.
Well, now I've got one.
Today's my first day at work. Old Dive the New Boy. Panic, panic, panic.
Wish me luck …

A Quiet Sunday

I found this spiffy little hidden garden in the Marais. All things considered I'd rather be there this afternoon than mowing my front lawn and washing the car.
Hey ho …

Saturday Statuary - Grand Palais, Paris

Hokay, so you're all out of Q-Tips, let's take some advice on aural hygiene from the French.
Step one: Squash a fat, large-headed baby with your mirror,
Step two: Ram a carrot in your ear.
Hey, this is the nation that gave us the bidet; what could possibly go wrong?

So Much For Summer

September? Which idiot let that in here?
Well, so much for Summer.
To set the tone for the season to come, here are some horse chestnut and plane trees changing out of their Summer clothing on the Canal Saint-Martin in Paris.
