WTF Monday

Caught short at Snetterton motor racing circuit?

You'd better get your climbing gear on.

500 Words XLII - This Week's Sentence

I confess to rather liking this week's sentence. It is from H. G. Wells' classic, 'The War Of The Worlds.'

The sentence is:
'There was something fungoid in the oily brown skin, something in the clumsy deliberation of the tedious movements unspeakably nasty.'

You know the rules. Have fun and get messy.

500 Words XLI - Story Time

This week's sentence was from Graham Greene's 'Our Man In Havana.'

It was: 'Wormold felt an enormous bewilderment.'

Just the one story again this week, unless any come in later.

Dive's 'Wormold Makes A Choice'

And I thoroughly agree with him. But then I would, as I wrote him.

Tomorrow's sentence is a fun one, if anyone fancies having a go.

Woohoo! Vanda has just rushed in with an awesome story:

Vanda's 'The Man Who Was Out Of Sync.'

I just love everything about this. Read and enjoy!

WTF Monday - Sweaty Special

Ah, those crazy Japanese and their delightful take on the English language.
I've always loved their car names: the Mazda Bongo Friendee, the Honda Vamos Hobio Travel Dog, the Mitsubishi Guts, Isuzu's Mysterious Utility Wizard and Giga 20 Light Dump and of course the Daihatsu Naked, to name but a few.

Pocari is a huge brand in Japan and if you're marketing an isotonic drink for athletes, what else would you call it but … er … "Sweat?"
It actually tastes like a slightly bland sprite in case anyone wants a sip.

500 Words XLI - This Week's Sentence

This week's sentence (especially for Vanda) is from Graham Greene's 'Our Man In Havana.'

It is: 'Wormold felt an enormous bewilderment.'

Stop giggling at what an enormous bewilderment might look - or indeed feel - like and get writing.
The usual rules apply.

Enjoy!

500 Words XL - Story Time

This week's sentence was taken from John le Carré's short story, 'Call For The Dead.'

It was: 'Miss Adam herself dispensed the nastiest coffee south of Manchester and spoke of her customers as "My Friends".'

Just the one story this week (so far):

Dive's 'Disappointment And Ketchup'

Back in real life (well some of it, anyway) with a tale of mist-shrouded marshes and squelchy stuff underfoot.

Next sentence tomorrow; a special request from Vanda.

500 Words XL - This Week's Sentence

Yikes!
Today, '500 Words' turns forty!

This week's sentence is taken from John le Carré's short story, 'Call For The Dead,' where George Smiley makes his very first appearance.

It is: 'Miss Adam herself dispensed the nastiest coffee south of Manchester and spoke of her customers as "My Friends".'

Have fun with it. The usual rules apply.

500 Words XXXIX - Story Time

This week's sentence was taken from Henry James' 'Pandora.'

It was 'Then she has got her sister staying with her: Mrs. Runkle, from Natchez.'

Just the one story this week:

Dive's 'Bob Has A Good Day'

Not much of a story, but I've had a bit of a strange week (which is one reason my posts keep coming in a day or so late).
