Just in case you wondered where he'd gone, Gustav Mahler died one hundred years ago today.
He died in Venice, which is apt as most people know him by the beautiful adagietto from his fifth symphony … the one Visconti used in that gorgeous opening scene from 'Death in Venice.'
Make yourself a nice cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy …

Neetzy, wine is always preferable, but not always advisable (especially listening to the piece at breakfast time).
Robyn, it is, isn't it. That piece always makes me sigh and the Visconti movie picture of that long, lingering misty shot of the boat approaching over the Venice Lido always springs to mind.
