Norfolk's Hidden Gems: Castle Acre - Pt.1

Castle Acre! Boffo!
No reason to post these other than the total spiffiness of certain hidden corners of my neighbourhood.

Click on the pictures for the sheer hell of it.

Anyone out there in the market for romantic ruins? Here you go.

Come hither, through Norman gateways almost a thousand years old.

Poke around in a medley of mediæval monastic masonry.

Fondle fantastic flintwork.

Er … Communal latrines! Yay!

How picturesque can you get?

Hooray for ruin and decay!

More of this type of guff in the next post. You have been warned.

I am always in the market for romantic ruins to fondle.

Hahahahahahahahaha!
Thank you, Petrea. I was in dire need of a raucous chortle and that hit the spot.

This reminds me of the kissing scene in The Quiet Man. Pretty stuff.

Great photos of fascinating stuff! Romance, daydreams, ghosts, spirits - evocative of stories. And the famous flintwork. Looking forward to the second installment....

It sure is pretty, Robyn. And deserted. We keep our best secrets hidden from the tourists.

Ah, yes; the flintwork, Ms.M. It was thanks to your curiosity about that stuff that one of these pictures got posted before. There are indeed ghost stories and mediæval romances aplenty haunting my neighbourhood. More soon.

hi Robyn x

It's a wonderful place, and almost impossible to find, which is good, as it keeps the tourists away.

This leaves me breathless.

It's a fair hike to walk round it all, Prudence but you shouldn't be getting breathless at your age.

Hee hee. Actually, Prudence, my ass is probably my smartest part as that's where I keep my brains.
