I've run out of WTF Monday photos, dammit.
They will probably be back, but I'll have to build up a stash of them first.
In the meantime, in (dis)honour of the US mid-term erections, here's a poem by the splendid Roger Mc.Gough, whose poems guided me (and made me giggle) throughout my childhood and teenage years.
The Leader
I wanna be the leader
I wanna be the leader
Can I be the leader?
Can I? I can?
Promise? Promise?
Yippee, I'm the leader
I'm the leader
OK what shall we do?
Happy November, people, and always remember:
Those who desire power are by definition those least fit to wield it.
That's where modern democracy falls down.
Use your votes wisely.

i'm depressed. xoxoxo
Cheer up, Savannah. It's Monday, it's November and Sarah Palin's zombie horde are on the march.
Okay, so now I'm depressed too, hee hee.
xoxoxoxo
So true. I'm also quite depressed about the zombie teabagging horde. They will be swarming the polling places tomorrow. I can't believe there are so many stupid idiots out there. (Sigh)
Is there music that goes along with this poem?
I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. The only relief is that all the nasty ads for those running for office will finally be over! Bring on the Scotch (on the rocks)!
Thank heavens tomorrow will bring to an end the daily phone calls from all sorts of candidates. I'm so tired of having the phone ring only to have it be another robo-call.
Fear not, friends. One good thing about American democracy is the short attention span of the populace. In a few months, everyone will be dissatisfied again and poof! In two more years they'll vote the bastards out.
Neetzy: Hahahahaha. Oh, my. I'd not thought until now to refer to the Tea Party as the Teabaggers. Teabagging has an altogether different meaning here (as it may over there, too).
Ms.M: There should be music! Actually Roger Mc.Gough was in a band in the sixties and I've got a very rare single he made (not with his band) with Paul Mc.Cartney, Macca's brother Mike Mc.Gear and a certain Jimi Hendrix (Mc.Gough and Mc.Gear's 'So Much In Love'). Trippy stuff.
Lupine Lady: That's one American import we DON'T want over here. Sheesh. How invasive and annoying. If people made it clear they would not vote for any party who makes unsolicited phone calls it might put a stop to their nonsense.
Petrea: We can only hope that common sense will prevail and that you are right.
Dear Dive, teabagging has the same meaning here. It's with glee that we use it to describe this particular brand of political nincompoops. It's funny that nobody warned them when they first started waving the tea bags around. Not to mention that the more G rated connotation of "Tea Party" is that of the Mad Hatters, and that's not an image you want to be associated with in politics. It fits though.
One day we (or our grandkids) will look back at this and laugh.
Hoorah for teabagging! I am so glad it has the same meaning there.
And well done for voting. I wish I could vote in your elections, dammit.
As for our grandkids: with you in Pasadena and me in England it's going to be pretty darned tricky to have kids, let alone grandkids. But it might be fun trying. Hee hee.
Only if you carry them, Dive. I don't want to ruin my figure.
So, somebody's grandkids.
I learned about teabagging, like most terms of that nature, from HBO. Yay!
Oh yeah, I'm not in Pasadena! Wrong Valley. It's like Manchester and Liverpool. Or something.
Yes. Teabagging seems to have the same meaning. I will only refer to this certain group of right wing nincompoops as teabaggers. Glenn Beck is their messiah.
Little miss Pollyanna here had to look it up.
Dive: The Mc.Gouch, Mc.Cartney, Hendrix and crew single would be fascinating to hear. So were some of them jamming in the studio and the others dropped by? Spontaneous music?
Vanda.: Hee hee. I'm quite fat enough as it is.
Many apologies for locating you in enemy territory. Yikes!
Neetzy: it is all they deserve.
Petrea: You really ought not to have done that.
Ms.M: I might well rip it and post it one day. It came about as Roger Mc.Gough and Mike Mc.Gear were recording the single and Paul Mc.Cartney was playing, singing and mixing it for his brother and yes, Jimi was in the studio next door and popped in to lay down an awesome lead guitar line all through the song.
We shall say hello to friends we've not seen in sometime, wave from way over here, say something like, "Mother of Hell, Xmas season is beginning soon, screw you Burl Ives!"
Or, maybe I'll just say, "Long time no see!"
Todd
I know. Warning: Wikipedia has an illustration.
Vanda's not an enemy, she's a neighboring ally.
Yay, Todd! Nice to see you again. You've just reminded me I need to get off my fat, lazy ass and get the 500 Words thing going again (as if you don't have enough to do … hee hee).
Petrea: I am SO not going to check that out. Eww!
Hoorah for good Californian neighbours.
Even beyond the coffee house window I can see the sun glint across the glass of cars passing to and from. Perhaps, I think, I shall sit here awhile longer. Perhaps, I'll pick up this guitar. Perhaps, I'll pluck it's strings and wave to my buddies across the seas.
So how is life on the other side of the world?
Oh, and if you have time, check out this link:

If you click [scene] and check out the October 16 update, you'll see they grabbed my poems.
My first poetry chapbook is on that site under [links], and my second is soon to follow.
Funny, seems like yesterday I started this writing degree, and already I'm almost finished. Few more weeks and I work on my thesis project then, it's done.
Tally Ho!
BTW, here's a stupid pic for you, in lieu of WTF Monday:

Katherine. That picture. I'm speechless.
Todd: life over here has been as busy as life over there. I'm hoping that things will calm down a little as the nights draw in and I can get some writing done.
The 'real' site is cool! Nice to be able to find what you've been up to (though the music that started when the site loaded almost gave me a heart attack as I'd left the volume way up last night).
Enjoy your last few weeks of insane hard work and good luck with your thesis.
Katherine: The elections are over? What about the run up to the next ones? Sheesh! It seems like politicians do nothing but run for office over there and so have no time to actually govern when they get it.
I LOVE the picture. It goes a long way to explaining Bush and Palin.
Petrea: Me, too.
I feel like I could send you quite a few wtf photos if only I put my mind to it. At the very least, my city has quite a number of strangely dressed hookers.
I do enjoy the clothes those gals tend to wear. There's a real doozy on Rue St.Denis I just wish I had a photo of but I'll try to get one next time I'm there.
