The regular April display of white lilac outside my bathroom window took one look at the weather this year and decided it was a teenager and would stay in bed all day.
It's only just out and it's almost June.
A pox on the crappiest year of non-stop rain and misery I've ever seen.
I'm writing off 2012 as a washout.
Oh, and that's the clematis montana in the background … that's usually out in my garden in late March and early April.
It's JUNE tomorrow, for fuck's sake!
What a shit year.

Stop grumbling and enjoy what we have! I am turning out cupboards ready for you and Phil to help me decorate on Sunday, OMG where did all this stuff come from?
The Lilac is lovely mine is nearly finished weird weather you are right.
And I just experienced the most mild Winter of my life! No kidding. Hardly any snow...wore jackets instead of heavy coats. I could get used to this...I'm just worried that the gods will smite us next Winter with double cold...and I will be alone! Bing won another Fulbright and is spending the Winter in India, so Liv and I are left to ourselves....ugh.
I would love to have lilacs. You do know, don't you, that when I leave this life, I'm coming back as a purple lilac?
how gorgeous, sugar! i am massively jealous/envious/delighted at your beautiful photos. at my ancient age, i appreciate every day in all of its insane beauty. (yeah, it rained a bunch around here and i'm still delirious from being stuck inside for days.) xoxoxoxo
*babbling to myself still*
Enjoy what we have? I just spent the whole day getting soaked through.
At least I can take it out on your walls this weekend.
A mild winter in Cornhusker Country, Maria? Weirder and weirder!
I hope next winter is nice and gentle on you (and that Bing gets rained on every day in India for leaving you alone).
Katherine, they're beautiful. Apparently they smell gorgeous, too, though being anosmic I have no idea.
Savannah, I'm still giggling from your Tropical Storm Beryl. That's mum's name and yes, sometimes she resembles a tropical storm.

Well thank you very much!now I will make you paint the radiators ha ha.
Only kidding hope to get a bit done before you both arrive, as do not want to take all your holiday time.
Your pictures of the lilacs are beautiful, Dive. We had virtually no winter here; the temps rarely got down to a range where I needed to wear my heaviest coat. The transition to spring was somewhat gray and chilly, while the past weekend saw temps in the mid-90s. We are now back to the 70s. Go figure.
Your photos are glorious! And probably make you pissed off and nostalgic...
Here's hoping your weather improves in June. :-)
Lovely detail and backlighting darling.
Thanks, guys. I do love my lilac tree, even when it's a month late in flowering (it's still in full bloom in JUNE … sheesh!)
