Well, half-way through the first of my six, partially-sighted, post-cataract weeks before I can get my new prescription sorted and see again, and already my forehead above my right eye is red raw and sore as hell. I have to wear a protective shield over my eye at night for the first three weeks, presumably to stop myself clawing it out in my sleep, but the damned thing has to be taped on with microporous tape and it is irritating the hell out of my face.
The eye itself is fine, just a little sore in the mornings and evenings but the eye drops sort that out. Now I need some advice as to how to keep the stupid eye shield in place without the rest of my face peeling off. The options occur to me of nailing the fucker in place or of staying awake for three weeks on a diet of coffee and benzedrine, but neither of those appeals much.
Any advice gratefully received … stupid advice included as having a good giggle is therapeutic.

head gear? like hannibal lector in silence of the lambs? a stocking mask like an old time robber? or old school ski mask? wait the eyes still sow on the those...
good luck, sugar! xoxoxoxox
p.s. thanks for the support and kind words! much appreciated.
Hee hee, Savannah. Excellent ideas. I think tonight I shall tie the thing on like a pirate eyepatch.
So glad to know at last that the MITM is safe and hopefully on his way back to you. Love to you both. xoxoxoxox.
I have told you what to do and Auntie Jan said you should not need the eye patch after 3 nights, and she is a nurse..so up to you just hope the soreness soon goes... I really feel I should be helping you instead of Uncle Derek, but will see you as soon as I can.. take care... x
I vote for the pirate eye patch. Now all you need is a pirate hat, a swashbuckler, and a parrot. And don't forget the rum.... Arrrrrrgggghhh!
How about "the cone of shame". The plastic cones veterinarians place on dogs after neutering to keep them from scratching!
Mum, I did the pirate eyepatch thing and miraculously it was still on this morning.
Good luck with Derek.
xx
Arrrr, Ms.M, me hearty, a tot of grog would go down a treat, but not at this time of day (breakfast). As for the parrot, I once knew one of those buggers and they are even more needy and noisy and messy and annoying than children so I'll stick to having a cat on my shoulder.
Hahaha, Neetzy, I have GOT to get myself one of those.
Pirate Dive has a certain zing to it. I'd like to see a picture.
Imagine Captain Jack Sparrow thirty years older, a hundred pounds heavier and with a propensity to moan like fuck about the weather.
Oh that sucks, Dive! I'm sorry. I've been away too long and didn't realize you had eye surgery. It seems you have managed to entertain yourself a bit, though, and that's good.
I have no idea how I would keep an eye shield on except with duct tape, which could also be useful in pluming the eye brow.
Katherine, duct tape is the cure for all ills.
Vanda: hee hee hee.
