I clicked hoping to see "more". These are curiously tiny appendages. This one also appears to be a bit too "high" don't you think? They look like baby pee-pees to me!
Neetzy; I confess I am no expert on baby pee-pees, but I think these statues reveal that Roman artist's studios did not employ fluffers.
Why the poor guy should be portrayed wearing a pizza on his head is quite beyond me.
HAHAHAHA!! Oh my. I've seen bigger on a few babies. :D Those are some mighty cold statues.
Shan: Now perhaps we can see what really caused the decline and fall of the Roman Empire.
Ha ha. Reminds me of my little brother when he was a baby! I used to change his nappies (diapers) and he would giggle with glee as he peed freely. (I think there is the makings of a poem in there somewhere!)
It's all because of the appendage he's forced to wear on his head. It just sucked everything out of him....
Mme: I think you're right, though it's probably not the kind of poem anyone would want to read out loud.
Ms.M: According to the label beside the statue at the BM, the pizza thing on his head is a 'fashionable flat hat,' though that's one fashion I cannot see coming round again any time soon.
That doesn't appear to be the kind of guy you'd erect a statue of.
T: Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
Feel good that I've never seen well-endowed sculptures of men in museums, even when there are busts of women right next to them. You'd think we could be honest with ourselves.
You're right, Katherine. Stick this guy in front of Canova's the Three Graces and I'm sure he'd show more enthusiasm.
All that physique and no package. Makes me wonder about body builders.
Apparently, the Romans invented the Brazilian Wax.
What is this, penis theme week? And what kind of guy walks around wearing a hat and no pants?
Vanda: I don't thikn the Romans had access to all the genital-shrinking chemicals today's body builders abuse themselves with; I think it was just cold in the studio.
As for the Brazilian: that's probably down to the difficulty of sculpting a decent groin-wig.
Petrea: Penis theme week? Hee hee hee. Now there's an idea!
"And what kind of guy walks around wearing a hat and no pants?"
Petrea, haven't you ever seen those sexy cowboy movies? And I don't mean Brokeback, though for all I know, either one of those guys could have kept his hat on with pants off.
Katherine: I've lived over five decades and mercifully I've yet to see a naked cowboy movie.
Please tell me that such a genre exists, though; the world would be a poorer place without such things.
Well Dive there's a Naked Cowboy in New York.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_Cowboy
He does wear briefs, (pants to you), but from what I see not because he has shortcomings to hide.
Katherine, I haven't seen those movies but perhaps I should.
A simple Google search should get you what you want, but I'm not sure you want it in your search history LOL!
It has been years since I've seen anything of the sort, of course. It was funny then, and it probably still would be now, but I've got Dive to make me laugh and he doesn't lead porno makers to my email via my search history.
Vanda: Hee hee. That must be one COLD spot to busk! I imagine he has compensatory padding.
Petrea: I think perhaps you shouldn't.
Katherine: I'm afraid my search history is way too boring to include naked cowboys. A decade of having my home internet monitored by the office has led to somewhat sedate habits. Now that I no longer work for the Trust and am free to search for all manner of inappropriate stuff I find I would rather not bother. Probably a good thing.
Is this probably one of the additional indications of global warming? Or could they have had steroids then? The statue does seem a bit child-like.
