Spring Break

Here at the Divery back garden, spring has finally yawned, stretched, finished its ablutions and is getting down to some serious action.

As the plum trees finish blossoming and get down to the business of leaf-making …

It's cherry time!

Yay!
Actually, it's pretty kitcsch and tacky out there right now. With the forsythia going full tilt and the last of the winter jasmine, the view from my window is all white, pink and yellow; it's a little like living inside Barbie™'s vacuous brain.

Pretty, but Icky.

Yeah, the rest of the garden's more a nature reserve than a garden but what the heck; it's hard to garden when I'm in London.

Dive, I would LOVE to live in a flower house (but not with Barbie. She's evil).

Your descriptions are, as always, interestingly sexual.

We have lovely cherries here in DC Metro, too, but most of them are on the trees.

Ah. I wish we were closer to Spring. The trees haven't really even started to bud yet. A snow storm is predicted for this weekend.

Color me green with jealousy.

it's crazy mad here, sugar! almost overnight everything is in bud/bloom/totally greening UP! xoxox

Dive, just go with it. Spring is goofy!

Congrats on getting Spring to arrive. I think we are about 2 weeks away. I sure hope so. Great photos.

Spring is just reminding you to get in touch with your feminine side Dive! Let's go shopping! On second thought, going shopping tends to lead me to getting in touch with my 'low account balance' side(which isn't my most flattering) so perhaps we'll stay home and wander around our own yards looking up at trees. Pink is nice. Your view is prettier than mine. :)

Thank goodness Alifan revealed that all is not perfect in your garden. I am relieved as neither is mine. Lovely shot though Dive. I do love Cherry. I've nothing yet in my garden. Yep. Nothing. My clematis should be showing soon but that's about it. Oh and some wallflowers.

C'mon, I know you like tacky kitsch, so I bet you really like all these Barbie colours.

Do you call it for-sigh-thia or for-sith-ia? I'm sure I pronounce it "wrong" so I won't even tell you how I'd say it. Sure is pretty in Spring though.

For-sigh-thia Katie x

Icky? How could you think it's icky? Too feminine for you?

I found a blooming dogwood on the way to the coffee shop this morning and some daffodils. Beyond that, I'm waiting for the rest of the damned place to wake up.

savannah said...

@katie...heah on the right coast, we say: for-sith-ia which i'm guessin is how all y'all on the left coast say it, too, sugar! ;) xoxo

Katie said...

Lynn I figured you probably said for-sigh-thia. Sigh.

@savannah do you tweet? And you betcha we say for-sith-ia out here on the left coast. What sort of snobs would pronounce it any other way? ;-)

Old Forsythe the botanist would be most upset with you guys for calling him Forsith, like he was some baddie in Star Wars.
Ah, Colonials with your garbled language.
Hee hee.

Wow! What an imaginery,secretive,
seductive,garden!!! Seems Heaven.

I know a"Forsythe". But he isn't a botanist. He is a Dancer and Choregrapher.

Anonymous said...

Well yes,a botanist is an artist.
And your Heaven is secretive seductive and....sensual too.

Scout said...

Ooo, Dive has a sensual garden.

Pretty pretty blossoms. I think Anon is being rather provocative there Dive. Seems to be her forte. Meow!

My garden is looking distinctly autumnish ... all those oak leaves falling down I suspect. But at least the cats have stopped moulting :)

Our blossoms are flirting. The cherries in my fencerow have a way to go. The daffodils are up. My garden is definitely in the nature reserve category, but I like it that way.

Forsythia flowers, I thought growin up, were for Cynthia, my cousin.

neetzy said...

Dive, forgive me. I lost my second "G" in "growing". I may pronounce flowers wrong, but I would never purposely lose a "G".

First you made me miss my cat, now you're making me pine (no pun intended) for my garden!

At least I know there's nothing you can say or do that will make me miss my ex-wife.

Also, as I said to the other musketeer...

Sorry I haven't visited for a while, but I've been snowed under (five papers and one presentation due in the space of a fortnight!) and sick (a cold with a dry cough that led to me to lose my voice for a few days).

On the mend now, though.

Dear Mme Benaut,I'm not"provocative
I' m trying to be a bit humorous.
My bad English is often betraying
me: I can be wrong or a sort of a
pompous,pretentious,maybe ...provocative person I'm not.
Don't be afraid for your precious
Dive: not at all risks of things and of doing for him : he is a too delight youg man.

Spring is hinting it's way around here as well. My forsythia has finally turned bright yellow and some violets are blooming as well. I bought pansies for my front porch and back deck. After the grey of winter it's nice to see the Disney splash of color!

I just had Sushi. Thought I'd share that with you. Don't get too excited though, it was lunch-pack supermarket Sushi but I have to say it was delicious! Not quite to Selfridges Sushi bar standard (nearest we have in Birmingham) but goooooood! Thought of you.

Cheltenhamdailyphoto said...

Oh by the way you'll be able to share your 50s blues on Monday - it's my turn. Groan.

Cynthia said...

Neetzy: yes, I too thought it was Forcynthia when I was growing up; a pretty bush just for ME? How wonderful.

Your blossoms are beautiful, Dive; thanks for sharing. Spring is a wonderful time.

Nice! I spent an hour yesterday walking in the woods getting shots of dogwood trees and tiny little woodland flowers. It was heaven!
