Yesterday evening saw the very last Japanese class of the academic year.
Sigh …
No more college until September.
I miss it already.

It's great to really notice when nature does her thing! I remember being in Florence with LL, crossing a bridge over the Arno with huge cumulous clouds all around at the 'golden hour' and suddenly the sun came out and everything turned orange and traffic stopped and pedestrians paused and everybody just gawked at the beautiful light. I don't care when the kids poke fun at me when I say, "Ohhhhh, look at the light!."

Gee. Sunset at half past nine. When I'm out working in the garden around 8:25 these evenings, I can hear "evening colors" being played at the Navy base about 5 miles away as they take down the flag. It's especially audible if there's fog, so even if you can't see the sun, they still observe sunset. I acknowledge the "end of the day" and pack up my tools and come in. Usually it's a little too dark to see certain weeds anyway.
Cynthia, I remember that Florentine sunset.
And also the Alaskan sunset with you at 10:30.

Mum: It's October I'm really looking forward to.
Savannah: My problem was that I WAS driving. Luckily there's a wide strip off the carriageway there to stop and take photos. I was not the only driver doing that.
Oh, Cynthia, now you've made me jealous. That bridge (if you mean the one with all the buildings on it) is one of my favourites on the world and the light there is amazing.

Lupine Lady: enjoying looooong summer evenings is one of the nice things about being on the same latitude as Canada's Hudson Bay.
At midsummer it doesn't really get dark much before midnight.
The downside is midwinter when the sun sets at around 3:30 in the afternoon.
Konnichiwa, Mme. Summer will come back to you as long as the planet keeps spinning around the sun.

Bummer your class is over until September. I have a few postcards with Japanese on them; maybe I'll start posting them on Thursdays as pop quizzes for you. Of course I have no idea what they say, so you could make up anything and I'd believe you. I do like these sunset photos. It could almost be California!
Dive, the Florentine bridge you mention is wonderful, but this was a different bridge downstream.
C'mon, dive...when you get to be our age, 2 months flies by in about ten minutes.

Lynn: I often wish summers away; the weather is too icky-sticky and it is our most insanely busy preiod at work, so roll on October!
I agree with Katie: it reminded me of CA also. It can get cold and foggy even in SoCal. People were bundled up to watch the fireworks last night. I can't remember a 4th of July evening that was warm and balmy.
