No reason; it just popped into my tiny brain as I was making coffee.
Anyhoo … back to the real world of Norman Castles and slapping builders upside the head.
The stonemasons have been making glacial but decent progress on my new stone wall beside the Bigod Stair. But why - I hear you cry - have they left gaping holes in it?
Holy holes, Batman!

The first of the glass beams for the new atrium is slotted into the new stonework.
I am a'quiver with anticipation, even though it's taken more than five years to get to this stage.
With luck, I may get to see it finished before I pop my clogs.

A couple days ago, Norwich Castle people posted (Instagram?) a photo of the castle taken from a drone. Other than the crane, the only evidence I can see of any work is the very clean appearance of the castle wall facing the crane. I can't find the image now, but I was hoping you could orient us/me in the picture. Where is the new atrium located? Oooh, the glass beams! Are they laminated? Did you decide to hang them in a new-bit-of-wall-that-looks-distinctly-different-from-the-old-wall?
Pardon my enthusiasm ... I just have a lot of questions ... as you know.
Hi, Speedway. If you go right back to my November, 2020 post you'll see my model and you can relate it to these photos to figure out where the atrium sits in relation to the Bigod Tower.
Yes, the glass beams are laminated and made with low-iron glass to stop them looking green as they're so thick.
If you look at the middle photo you'll see we echoed the flint-to-stone to match the Bigod Tower on the right, but because the stone is much more structurally sound than a new flint face, we took it down to the top of the old flint wall so we could build the beams right in.
The Castle website is always a bit behind. We've been out on the roof for a couple of weeks now and I'll post some photos soon.
And questions are GOOD!
The more I see of this the more amazing it seems. It must be so exciting to be a part of this. To be a part of this project, extending the life of the castle into future centuries, makes you a tad bit immortal.
As a way of saying "I was here" it sure beats spray-tagging a wall.
