Minus Thirteen and Sucky

We're between snow storms at the moment.
Pulls' Ferry was unreasonably picturesque at lunchtime, but with minus thirteen on the thermometer and a vicious arctic wind, if you were fool enough to step out of the door the cold was ready and waiting to bite your face off.
Feck that!

Here's the view from my office window when I managed to get in to work.
All very postcard, but I'll be a lot happier when the white goes away and the green returns to the trees.

It looks so pretty…

Have a safe journey… Nice that Liz has joined the comments…

Another Brick in the Wall is playing on the radio, that takes me back to your playing days…

You just reminded me why I'm glad I don't play any more.

I do not believe that! fingers farrow…

The picture of the Ferry has almost an old holiday card feel. No matter the weather, you are so fortunate to have pretty scenery just outside your window. Over here, people would compete just to have a bit of sky visible from their cubes!

Other than that - weenie! Over here it is 33 F/.55 C.

Oh how lovely, Dive! The scene itself is soothing, especially if you have a warm place to be in or a thick coat to wear. Take care.

Mum, I'm not even slightly curious about it any more.

Speedway, the temperature got up to minus nine today. Woohoo! Pretty soon I'll be out in shorts and a teeshirt.

Yes, I am exceedingly grateful for my view. It keeps me relatively sane.

Katherine, the office is icy cold and has crap heating so most of us have been working in thermals, fingerless gloves and wooly hats of late. But the view does make it almost bearable.

Gosh, Pulls' Ferry! I have it etched on my mind as you showed it to me last time. It looks much more pictureskew now though ;D Pretty gorgeous! Lovely pics Dive ..

Wow, the photo of Pull's Ferry looks like a picture-book illustration. Oh, look, Lynn said something similar. I don't envy you the cold weather, but it's at least very pretty where you are.

The photo of Pulls' Ferry is especially beautiful.

But BRRRRRR! -13 C is like 8 F here -- which actually has been the average temp at night here lately. Waaaay too cold. Bundle up well!

dive said...

It sure is pictureskew, Lynn.Looks like it's going to be a good weekend for stout walking boots and cameras.

Robyn, it IS very pretty but I wish ninety percent of the drivers on the road were not the idiots that they are; it would make it a lot easier to bear.

Brrr indeed, Ms.M. I'm about to head out into more of it (lots more snow overnight; lots more to come well into next week here in the east).

Stout walking boots? Groan... don't make me, Dive, please don't make me? Whine... whinge...stop, stamp feet.. haha. I've finally updated my blog about our lovely jaunts et al. Such a while since I used Blogger. Oh the shame. I now need instructions Dive. How can I change the way it looks? It's all over the place. I just want Classic like yours, but I can't seem to change. I've uploaded from my phone, but can't access all the pics on my phone, only some. I realise this last query may better be aimed at your readers Dive, what with your phone phobia and all... ;) Thank ye kindly if anyone knows. So do pop over and see me at Cheltenham Daily Photo Dive. Sorry it's taken so long! xx

Lynn, I feel your pain. I'm trying to figure out how to use some new software. And thanks for the new word.

I believe Hansel and Gretel used to hang out at Pulls Ferry. Or probably Snow White.

Ah, Lynn; you've got to have a pair of stout walking boots! There's nowt like tramping the hills all day. Hee hee.
So glad to see you back in Blogville. Of course I have no more idea about mobile telephones than you do about stout walking boots, but if you get access to a pooter, go to the top right of your blog screen to where it says "Design" and change your appearance from the stupid new "Dynamic" blog page back to the "Simple" one.
Those "Dynamic" things are great for the kind of idiot who likes to smear their fingers all over a tiny tray but useless if you use a computer and want to see and read what's written on the blog.

Petrea, I'm wondering which of Lynn's words is new to the Colonies.
Pull's Ferry certainly has pretty good fairy tale credentials; even more so all lit up at night.

Cheltenhamdailyphoto said...

Ok thanks shall try that.
I DO have some stout walking boots actually! They're pretty impressive - though I didn't have them with me recently so you haven't seen them. Shall dress up next time, in them, so be ready for serious hefty meaning-business boots (albeit probably with a pretty dress)!
Hmm I was wondering too, Petrea... could it be 'whinge'?

dive said...

It may well be whinge, Lynn; it's certainly a word they could use in the Colonies right now to describe the pathetic whingeing of the NRA.

Hefty boots and a pretty dress is so nineties. Hee hee.

Cheltenhamdailyphoto said...

Nay Sir, tis so 19th century! The veritable stuff of Jane Austen's character attire (ok so maybe slightly less hefty but boots nonetheless).
I did wear them in the nineties, guffaw, they were proper builders types too, mustard yellow, but WITH the pretty dress made all the difference. However, my influence is far more to with Pride and with Prejudice dear Sir.
Oh how I loathe your security word typey roboty thing Sir. I always have to do it thrice!

dive said...

Oh, a pox on those word verification thingies. I'm forced to use it as without it I get deluged with spam from Chinese software companies trying to sell me fake versions of Photoshop or (god help us ) Windoze.

I never did get that whole Riot Grrl thing. Army boots with stick legs and pretty frocks? Okay, so maybe the stick legs and pretty frocks, but ballet pumps would have looked a whole lot sexier.
Hey ho … Fashion, weemen and me; three things cursed never to meet at the same point at the same time.

Cheltenhamdailyphoto said...

Ah well ballet pumps were a staple too .. and still are. Regardless of the hefty thing going on, the classic court shoe cannot be beaten. RIOT? Never in a million years hehe.

Nope, I've been over to my blog. The word Design cannot be seen anywhere. Dash it.

Eek! Looks like that awful Dynamic Blogger thing is tricky to get rid of. I've only found two articles on it: one with lots of code (but it looks like it fixes it properly):

http://classicbloggertemplates.blogspot.co.uk/2007/09/switching-back-to-classic-blogger.html

and one from Google that you have to type at the end of the web address every time you want to use the old classic blog:

http://googlesystem.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/disable-bloggers-dynamic-views.html

How useless they are …

Cheltenhamdailyphoto said...

Oh gawd. Guess it'll have to stay then, just not sure people know to click each thing for the whole article ... thanks awfully for finding those though. Am not up to html.

dive said...

Next time you're up here we'll sort it on my laptop.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oh, Petrea, I haven't laughed so much in a long, long time. Thank you so much for the link to Jane Austen's Fight Club.

Ah, me …

Consider the word list above as your introduction to the linguistic world of your great Dickensian novel.
Start writing!

Petrea Burchard said...

Dickensian, moi? well, you know who Boz is named for.

dive said...

Of course, Petrea. Now you've got Camelot and Vine ready to go I've been wondering where your next book will be set. I'm sure Sam Weller, Jack Dawkins, et al would be delighted with your company.
