Spiffy Present

I've just been dreaming up my own fantasy Santa for Robyn's mad weekend assignment.
For my Santa, I envisage a strange, skinny goth girl with scary eyes who lives under kids' beds and has PMS at Christmas and comes out and screams at them "It's Not All About You, You Little Shits!"

In an odd twist, it seems to have brought into existence a very similar, though not quite so shouty creature; a kind of personal birthday-santa; a real life tall, skinny, not-goth but still pretty odd girl who sends a present several weeks before my birthday, then calls me up and has me open it as I'm typing my fantasy Santa to Robyn.

I open the birthday package to find a picture of a strange, skinny goth girl with scary eyes.

I like it when this sort of oddness happens. It reinforces my view of the world as fucked-up, but occasionally delightfully so.
The picture is on the front of a CD/DVD by Regina Spektor called Mary Ann Meets The Gravediggers. It is utterly wonderful. Dark, sexy and very odd indeed. Ms. Spektor is very much a fan of the wonderful Edward Gorey. Lots of Gorey style illustrations throughout the little booklet. I'm listening to it rather too loudly in the studio right now and will probably just pour myself a nice glass of wine and let it play into the early hours.

So. Thank you Peahen, for an absolutely lovely present.
This is Peahen, sitting behind Helen. She'll hate me for posting this, but I like it, so there you go.

That's a very cool but odd birthday Santa surprise. Fun. Enjoy your evening with wine and loud music.

Hehee - 'very cool but odd' - didn't I read that in your profile, Dive?! ;-)

Was that really the best picture of me that you can find? lol. It was a good day, thanks for reminding me of it.

No, but it's one of my favourites because it's got a "DANGER" sign next to a couple fo pretty girls.
Something every man needs reminding of …
