We have a store in town called Pasadena Architectural Salvage. It's the proverbial treasure trove. And not cheap.

Cool! I have a lovely mahogany Georgian fire surround that I … er … salvaged from a building by slipping the site manager a tenner.
This stuff, however, was a service stair put in in the 1960s and worth jack. The sign was a joke. Builders gotta have fun, too.
But! In 20 years, that service stair will (would) be 80 years old, and folks will say, "The original 1960's plywood service stair! One of a kind! 500 pounds sterling!"
