I'm Dreaming Of A Green Spring

Just when I thought we'd seen the last of the bloody snow, it only goes and dumps a dusting on us for Christmas morning.
If any of you are dreaming of a white Christmas, this is the drear, cold, slippery and depressing reality.

Bollocks to that.
Roll on Spring!

A few shots of grappa ought to mollify those winter blues, Dive. ... Have a good one, young fella. All the best for '11.

Merry Christmas Dive to you and Phil.
Although you may not like the snow it looks just the ticket to me.
I'd love a white christmas.
Not about to happen over here, we had a beach christmas this year.

That white stuff looks familiar. I think I've seen it before.

Merry Christmas, guys!

Lucio, now that I am home after a long drive through a snowstorm I shall join you in a festive libation.

Kate, you are more than welcome to our snow. We've had the damned stuff a month now and still no sign of a let-up.

Vanda, I'll be glad if I never see the stupid stuff again. If only I could afford to come and join you in Southern California. Sigh …

Glad you made it home without commissioning a sleigh. I hope you enjoy festive libations and music with friends & family during the holidays.
And hope your Christmas wish is granted; that the snow disappears soon and the green of spring overtakes your lawn.

Snow is beautiful but cold and not so easy to deal with. The only time I miss snow--the only time--is Christmas day. It's a small price to pay to live in California.

Thank you so much, Ms.M. The snow is still here this morning so I'm hunkering down with a stash of books and crappy old black and white movies to await the thaw.

Petrea, I so wish I could swap climates with you, if only for Christmas Day.

Dive, I'm looking for my fast forward button that gets us through this next awful week, New Years tomfoolery, and into the spring.

Every year I'm forced to live through this crappy snow, surrounded by crappy decorations, crappy music, and drunks who act even more crappy. It does me some good to see that this affects the result of the world as badly as it does here.

Blech!!

PS If all of us chip in, we could buy or rent an island from October to March and skip this mess altogether.

Cheers.

I've learned there are some things I can't change. I can choose to be miserable about them or I can choose something else.
J. and I are working on new holiday traditions because the old ones leave us empty. Just the planning makes me feel better already.
As for the snow, the only thing you can change (besides your wet socks) is your location or your attitude. Both are difficult, but within your power.

Aw, how pretty. We got about that much or more in Atlanta, Georgia, which is pretty freaky. We actually made snowballs with the stuff.

A belated merry Christmas, Dive.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself. My sister just got twenty-seven inches dumped on her in New Jersey. We escaped the storm with a dusting! We seem to be on the right side of the storm tracks this year. I am not complaining! I hope you are enduring this Holiday season with some good spirits.

Petrea: Awesome idea! I want new traditions because, quite frankly, Burl Ives is now used to sell socks in the department stores.

A number of years ago (11?) I stopped purchasing greetings cards, and instead I send books. It's a time of reading!

White snow beats gray cold.

Why must the snow always end in gray? Always to linger, to outstay its welcome as though it were a dinner guest not aware the party is over. Why?

Eloquently put, TR!

Hey Dive - that little dusting is pretty! The official total here in Brick was 34 inches of the freakin' white stuff.
Anita and Co. came out to see us yesterday and were pretty impressed with the piles of snow all over the place.
Roll on Spring!
