As I am suffering Katie withdrawal symptoms at the moment (she's on vacation, chilling by a pool in Chaing Mai in preparation for invading Laos), here is a WTF Monday gift she gave me.
Yes, you read that right; it's BACON chocolate!
And I must confess it was totally delicious.Yes, it was chocolate, but yes it DEFINITELY tasted of bacon.
It was GOOOOOOOOOOD!
More, more, more! PLEASE!
Go HERE to buy some.
Thay make an awesome chili chocolate, too.
Proof that the US of A has finally discovered that food does not have to0 be made entirely from crap*. Woohoo!
* About fucking time!

Oh poor you, missing Katie! Still, chocolate runs a close second and to hear from you that Bacon Chocolate tastes good, well I didn't think I'd see that day!
Bon Appetit my dear.
Given the obesity problems here, it's not surprising that we'll put bacon in just about anything.
Thought of you Tuesday night. Was at a business dinner in Annapolis and saw an item with lardons on the menu:
Spinach Salad with Stilton and Pear, Lardons, Cremini Mushrooms Crispy Shalots and Warm Fig Vinaigrette
Didn't try it - I can't stand Stilton...sorry, but anything with mold as a selling point, just isn't food.
Mmmm, bacon! Hi from Chiang Mai! I thought bacon chocolate was weird until last night when we saw an assortment of yummy bugs for sale at the open market. Seriously, they were all in big bowls and you could pick out what you wanted to put in a stir-fry dish. I declined. And I didn't even take a photo because I was so freaked out! Have a good WTF Monday and I'll check back soon before I go offline for 2 weeks.
Mme: Mmmmmm … chocolate. You are right: chocolate can help in all sorts of emotional situations. As indeed can yummy bacon. A combination of the two is bund to succeed.
Lulu: that sounds delicious! You're torturing me as I am just about to leave for my three and a half hour journey to the office and have had no time for breakfast so I won't eat until I get there.
Doh!
And mould can be yummy! You are missing out on so many great cheeses (though I don't count Danish Blue as a cheese; it just tastes of salt … blech).
Katie: Mmmmm … insects!
Hey, you should give them a go! You eat prawns, don't you? Thay are simply airborne prawns and just as yummy. Hee hee.
Chocolate coated insects are available in some parts of the world. Now THAT sounds crunchily tempting!
So glad to hear you're having a great time.
Ah, you've discovered the fascinating combination of bacon and chocolate. The salt mixes with the sugar to create something oddly good. Yay.
Thought I would look in.. wish I had not ha ha...it might help my lousy chesty cough and cold though.... on second thoughts NO!!!!
Hi Katie... it is snowing here!!! have fun....
You know, you can also make ice cream out of bacon.
Robyn: it may not be the height of sophistication but bacon and chocolate sure hits the spot.
Mum: This was even yummier than the soy sauce flavoured KitKat that Mayuko brought me back from Japan.
I wonder if there is anything that does NOT go well with chocolate?
Vanda: Mmmmmmmmmm … That is pure pornography.
I've just about had it with you high-falutin' YOO-ropeans making fun of us Merickans and are food. It's about time yoo picked up on the sodium craze.
Hmm...I've heard of bacon cookies. Or maybe I haven't. It was some sweet desert made with bacon. I seem to recall trying a piece and saying mmmmmm as I do anytime bacon is going into my mouth.
Last night I was complaining on facebook about being in a corn-backed growler of a mood and received a suggestion of something to try. I guess there is chocolate flavoured wine? I wonder if they could do bacon flavoured as well? I would probably put that on asparagus and lap it right up. :)
(Yes, the spelling was for you to balance out mentioning facebook.-wink)
Petrea: Hee hee! The sodium craze will have to pass me by, I'm afraid; added salt is pretty deadly to my stupid bodily system. But bacon chocolate is just scrumptious.
Shan: Bacon cookies? I rather think the girl who gave us the awesome Meat Cake will have to make up a bacon cookie recipe for us to try (pretty pleeease).
I'll see if I can rustle up some bacon wine to accompany them.
Oooo bacon and chocolate! My husband would love this, too! And Valentine's Day is coming up soon....
Ms.M: My mind is filled with thoughts of a Valentine's breakfast fry-up of bacon and chocolate.
Er …
Why didn't they use Sir Francis Bacon on the wrapper? Do they have a "Bacon Bar" that has raleigh as an ingredient? Whatever raleigh might be?
What a weird combo...bacon & chocolate! I did read somewhere, tho, that some wag stated that every recipe in (and I shan't name it) vegetarian cookbook could be improved with the addition of bacon!
Glad Katie's eschewing some of the more exotic fare, tho.
Sarah: I have no idea why they used Sir Walter Raleigh rather than Francis Bacon.
Raleigh over here is polularly (though incorrectly) attributed with introducing the potato and tobacco from the New World, so perhaps a raleigh-flavoured chocolate bar would be not quite so scrummy as the bacon one, though of course more addictive.
Hee hee, Cynthia! In all my years as a vegetarian I craved bacon more than any other meat. Together with coffee and chocolate it brightens my life.
Sounds like awesome PMS food.
It would certainly stop you wanting to shout and hit people, Katherine.
Oh sorry....hard to keep track of who's Sir and who's not Sir....especially over here, don'tcha know....
But really, what can't be improved with the addition of bacon?!
Hee hee, Sarah: Nothing in the world that I can think of would not be improved with the addition of bacon.
Er … ahem.
I can't imagine bacon in chocolate, but I am a huge fan of Mexican Mole (chocolate sauce with spice) on chicken! It is actually very healthy. No sugar and little fat. I also envy Katie as I am buried under three feet of snow!
Mmm … Spicy chocolate chicken! That sounds almost delicious, Neetzy.
Katie is having a marvellous time in paradise, away from the snowy wastes of the norhtern hemisphere.
Hey ho.
Mole, yes indeed! Quite the gourmet dish. And the original chocolate drink the Aztec dudes drank wasn't sweetened, right?
Anyway, I figure that any food could benefit either from the addition of bacon or from the addition of chocolate. Y'know....bacon foods and chocolate foods. Maybe I could found a religion on that.
Sarah: You have one convert already.
I'm told this is what they served as appetizers at the TED talks in Long Beach, CA today:

Holy moley, Petrea! Now THAT is my kind of party! Woohoo!
I just saw a bacon chocolate bar in a fancy pants grocery store yesterday and I snickered at it instead of buying it. My loss, I guess. But, seriously...who'da figured?
Maria: There truly is no accounting for taste, but amazingly, bacon chocolate is totally delicious.
As you say: "Who'da figured?"
