Okay … I give up.
I was going to get out the ol' handcart this morning and head for Hell, but as Hell is coming to us now I didn't bother. I'm just going to sit here all week and watch pretty young girls bouncing around at Wimbledon while the world burns outside my window.
Rather than rant and rage at the wilful ignorance of a smidgeon over half of this soon-to-be third world country, I've done the only thing that could possibly prevent me from heading out there with a bag of handguns and a nervous twitch …
Post a cat video.
The internet is after all made of cats.
This is Fern; one half of Charlie and Fern who supposedly live next door, but as Gerry's in Germany with Heddy at the moment they tend to spend a lot of time snuggled up on my sofa.
Fern (she's getting on for twenty now, dear thing) has the most peculiar purr. She also chirrups at things, though not on this video.
So … make a cuppa and take a break from the insanity with two-and-a-half minutes of a purring cat.
It's about the only thing that makes sense in this world.

She is so sweet, and certainly deserves a video made of her, and I smiled all the way through it, thanks for that cheered me up.x
And the bonus is that you get to play with her for real. No doubt she'll be rolling all over the front lawn when you turn up next week.
Aww, she certainly does seem content with you, her foster-human-while-the-usual-are-gone. My two previous cats each lived to almost 20. They were good companions and I sometimes call my current cat by their names, usually when we're just having little chats.
Cats do indeed make wonderful companions, Speedway; they love you as intensely as dogs do but they're MUCH more picky about who they love. For the past twenty years, whenever I come home, these two are waiting for me, running up to me, purring and telling me all manner of stories.
Cats and dogs are people, plain and simple. (Literally simple, though not necessarily plain.) I could send you a snoring dog video.
Sorry about the soon-to-be-third-world thing. I have a feeling it won't actually happen, though maybe that's just a fantasy. But hey! My fantasy of a never-to-be-President-Trump is happening, so maybe I'm a visionary.
We really need visionaries right now, Petrea (and purring cats and snoring dogs).
We should have seen the signs of impending apocalypse, if only in the identical hair of Trump and Boris on either side of the Pond. Truly evil bouffant madness.
"Bouffant Madness" is my stripper name.
Hee hee, Petrea. Now I'm going to be plagued (blessed?) with erotic Ryoko dreams!
that is the oddest purr I have ever heard! But she's lovely, and you're lucky.
Fern is an odd one indeed, Robyn. I'll try to get a video of her chirruping at things. It is genuinely weird. Other than that, her and Charlie are (as you can see) great big softies and I love them.
Internet is made of cats... and porn don't forget.
You let a cat on your sofa...? Who are you and what have you done with Dive?
PS, stroke Fern for me and say hi to Gerry.
Hee hee hee! Charlie and Fern aren't cats; they're family, as well you know.
I shall certainly give them a good scritch and belly rub from you.
Gerry sends his love as always. xx
Robert, Gerry and me went to Jarrold's bookshop this morning, but somehow we ended up in the kitchen department and all three of us bought a new heavy (VERY) cast iron griddle. Tuna steaks, aubergines and veggie kebabs ahoy! I've just finished my first one and am still drooling.
Cat lady approves of this entire message. My cat-dog chihuahua Soniya is the only thing that calms my nerves some days.
I do miss having neighbor cats sneak in through the doggie door we had at our last house. Good times. Fun reading your clever blog again. I have missed you! :)
