A Different Pace

Life is nutjob crazy right now, which is why I've not been around much. Okay, so I've not been around at all, and I apologise for not visiting everyone's blogs. I'm hoping things will start to ease at some point between now and the end of the world but for the time being I'm downgraded to "occasional blogger" status.

I was wandering around a twelfth century church last Friday (which may not sound stupidly busy but it is part of my job) and got distracted by this lichen. I believe the species name translates from the Latin as "lucky bastard lichen" and its sole purpose seems to be to lazily grow in the sun on an old flint church tower. It's probably much older than me but it doesn't have to worry about money or work or why it can't get a girlfriend or politics or religion or finding a seat in the coffee shop. It just sits there and basks, slooowly stretching across the face of the flint. And that's all it ever does. Lucky bastard.
I offered to swap lives with it for a few days but it just lay there in the sunshine and mocked me. I'm sure I heard it giggle as I walked off.

I know the feeling, sugar! Enjoy life, but please drop by every now and then. I miss you already. xoxoxoxo

Oh great a new post welcome back even if only now and again.

Dammit!
Savannah, you actually made me squeal like a girl. Baby Boy Chaos is so cute it hurts. Just seeing those photos sucked all the testosterone from my body and left me cooing "Aaaahh" … I'm just glad nobody saw me.

Love the pic of the MITM smoking his big fat Cuban.
The only tobacco I've ever smoked is a big fat real Cuban cigar. I bought it from the Cuban cigar dealer on Victoria Street in London and smoked it in front of George Dubya as he gave a shitty speech over here trying to justify his warmongering. The thing tasted disgusting but I happily blew Fidel's smoke at Bush for as long as I could bear his bullshit and then flipped him the bird and stalked off … coughing.
xoxoxoxoxo

Mum, it will definitely be "now and then" for a while. Hopefully I'll have more time later.

Oh, so good to *see* you and know that you are OK. I, too, miss our little comment "chats."

The flint looks like a big piece of peanut butter fudge. With the help of 2 skillful plastic surgeons, I am going to have a bit of "lichen" removed from my face in a couple weeks. I am dreading it, but nothing like I've hated going out in public. It's a curse of the "English complexion," I guess, in spite of the fact I nearly always where a hat in the sun and use sunscreen. So, all you fair-skinned people - please be cautious, too, because the facial "lichen" is not beautiful.

And, Savannah, BBC is adorable.

Good to hear from you, Dive! Fantastic photo -- the textures are marvelous.
I've missed your flinty humor and splendid photos -- but it sounds like life is going pretty well? Take good care, and I'll keep checking for your "occasional" posts. :-)

I agree, this does look edible, kind of like peanut brittle. Mmm.

Speaking of edible, I also went and cooed at Savannah's pictures. Sweet!

Dive, you just don't have to blog every day. You have to have a life. You have to be happy. That's all you have to do, besides letting us know occasionally that you're having a happy life. You're stuck with us now.

My first thought was cake. The second was fudge. We all have food on the brain, obviously.

Just thought I would pop on here and say how busy Dive is, going all out at work, keep telling him to slow down, but of course no one listens to their Mum.

Hope you are all well.

I was thinking you posted a pic of my protein bar.

Alifan, Thanks for keeping us posted on Dive. (One of these days he'll find it wise to listen to his Mum more often) :-)

Thank you, Alifan. I am pleased to know that Dive is well. I just hope he is caught up in work that interests him, instead of pure drudge.

There are many days when I would have made the same swap offer, and I am sure I would have also been turned down.

There is a time for everything under the sun or something like that. I love the flint; thanks for the explanation because I thought I was looking at the surface of the moon or something.
"Occasional blogging" worked for me dearest friend. As times change, methods for communicating with each other change. Think how much your blog has changed from its early days! Facebook seems more popular for the time-challenged since it's one sentence nature is easy and we all stay in touch, one way or another. For lazy me, it beats email too because it's faster. Instead of an hour, I can spend a few minutes saying g'day. Either way dearest Dive, I'll be seeing you ...

Hi Dive and friends! Busy busy indeed. Life is too busy because time is speeding up! Or did I see that in a movie? Either way it's nice hearing from you. Mme B. and Petrea are right. You are stuck with us so you can't shake us that easily. Hope you are enjoying your busyness and it's not all drudgery. Thanks for checking in here and there. xo

OK, this is not fair: I want to be able to stay away from my friends' blogs cuz I'm a lazy slob; but when I'm ready to check in again, I want my buddies to all be there writing amazing stuff. I'm pouting.

My dear Apple Mac is old now and my blog will will post photos, so a sad me at the moment as Dive is rather busy so cannot help. But I can still manage to write a little on it, wish they would not change things at my age it is not easy to catch up.

Have a good Easter Sunday.

Happy Easter to you, Alifan! And thanks for the update on Dive. I hope spring has come to your part of the world.
